How long does the process to PCS to Germany take?

My husband found out on his AKO that his orders are going to put him in Baumholder Germany for 3 years. He has yet to get actuall written orders. He is currently in AIT in Maryland and I live in Washington State with our 17 month old daughter. Do I need to get started now on medical screening and passports or can I wait till he gets home Sept. 15th? (His report date in Germany is October 24th?) Is that even close to enough time? All of our belongings are already packed up and ready to go due to other circumstances. Also, how long before reporting to Germany do they need to pick up our belongings so we can have them in Germany when we need them, including our POV? Sorry about so many questions…this is just a big change and I am so so confused! Thanks!

We’ve been in Germany for about two months.

Start getting passports now! (They can take up to two months, and you can get them on post for free. But you will need to get a regular one for travel) You’ll need to find out how far out the medical screening needs to be before arrival in Germany. You will also need to see if your child or you needs to be in the Exceptional Family Member Program; because you could have health problems that they can’t treat in Germany. You should be able to take care of all of that at Lewis.

I would send your stuff a month in advance of your DOA. The movers will probably unpack everything because they have to see what’s going for insurance reasons.
Our neighbors who just got here won’t get their stuff until September! But don’t worry they have a lending closet that has everything, from pots, couches, and beds.

As for your POV, that one is up to you, because depending on where you are, you may need it. Personally, I would ship it as early as you can. You can get around a hell of a lot easier here, than you can in the states. Also make sure your car is clean, empty, free of dirt, and has less than a quarter of a tank of gas. Also make sure you keep you POV registration, you will need it to get your German tags. Also make sure you have a US drivers license!!!! You can not get a US Armed forces license without a state side license. You have to have both over here.

Also try brushing up on a little German, mostly everyone over here can speak English, but most signs are in German, so it helps to know a little bit.

And….

Willkommen in Deutschland!

Nicorette Fruit
Does nicorette fruit chill taste nasty?

well its better than smoking & cold-turkey attempts seldom work. But Nicorette helps you control cravings, while gradually weaning your body from nicotine.

Nicorette is a form of Therapeutic Nicotine, which means it provides a controlled amount of nicotine to your system at a slower, less intense pace than cigarettes. It works as a temporary aid to help you quit smoking by reducing nicotine withdrawal symptoms until your body no longer needs nicotine.

there are other flavors too
