healthy good
What is a good healthy recipe book?

I am trying to learn how to cook more healthy. What are some good cook books, that have recipes I’ll actually use. Not extreme crazy healthy, but I want to cut down the fat and introduce more vegetables into my meals.

Cooking Light has OUTSTANDING recipes that are all low in calorie. They give you the calorie count, fat content, and all of the nutritional information below the recipe that you’ll need to know when you make it. They don’t taste like diet recipes, but they’re outstanding.

You can get them at any bookstore in the cooking section. They have one that’s for fast meals, which I recommend if you’re not interested in spending a lot of time in the kitchen!

eating sugar
Is it better when eating refined sugar to eat nothing else that day?

I’m going to the fair this weekend and it’s totally not possible for me to go to the fair and not get a bag of cotton candy and a little funnel cake. Anyways I’ve been really (trying atleast) to cut back on my refined sugar intake and limit it to only a little bit one day of the week. So is it better to not eat anything what ever days I will be eating refined sugar so my body uses the sugar as energy instead of storing it or should I eat my normal healthy food and the sugary stuff too?

You should eat your healthy diet, even if you indulge in too much sugar. Maybe you could compensate a little by limiting the sugar and calories in the healthy food, even if you have to skip an orange juice, for example.
(Don’t do “lots of fruits and veggies”; those have a lot of sugar too…go with protein rich food, just for that day).

Calories is not all what matters. Your sugar blood level matters a lot too and if you have highs that are too high, you don’t want to come crashing down. A healthy diet would enable you to maintain a balance.

If you eat 700 more calories, you can try to be more active for a few days…a day at the fair would be an active day. Don’t worry about your body storing some unused sugar as fat reserves. It’s just storage…to which you can have access anytime by doing aerobics.

Don’t make any food taboo or that you would have to be punished for it. Like eating only refined sugar, which is not very fulfilling so you would have to suffer hunger just because you want to have fun and enjoy the good things in life? You also need to satisfy your zest for life.

Now, most important, especially in the long run, is that all sugars (sucrose, fructose, lactose…) will be converted into acids by oral bacteria and then attack your tooth enamel and create caries and tooth decay. Brush and floss is all I can say, each time you eat any sugar, even the kind in fruits/veggies and milk. If you’re at the fair, rinse your mouth with water after eating your sweets.

Have fun at the fair.
